Today, CYME announces Peakto 3.0, a major evolution of its AI-powered media manager for macOS. Designed to manage libraries of more than 3 million media assets, Peakto delivers significantly faster AI search, advanced video preparation tools and real-time collaboration, all while original media remains stored locally. With new MCP support, AI agents can now operate Peakto to streamline creative workflows.
Peakto 3.0 goes far beyond a performance upgrade. This release brings CYME’s vision to life: a new generation of media managers that combines on-device AI with advanced creative tools.
Creators can unlock the full potential of their content without uploading it to the cloud, while retaining full control over their original work.
“Creating content has never been easier, yet paradoxically, managing and making the most of it has never been more challenging. Our ambition with Peakto is to turn this growing volume of photos and videos into a creative advantage. We want to give creators new ways to work with their images and videos, supported by local AI, seamless workflows and AI agents—while keeping full ownership of their content and protecting their intellectual property.” — Claudia Zimmer, CEO of CYME
Five Major Developments
1. Find the Right Photo or Video Across Millions of Assets with Peakto
Peakto 3.0 introduces a new data architecture built to manage libraries of more than 3 million photos and videos. The application launches in seconds, while a redesigned grid keeps browsing fluid across collections of 10,000 files or several million.
Its 100% on-device AI, now up to three times faster, lets users find media through natural language queries, face recognition, visual similarity, metadata, and video transcripts. A new query engine powered by the latest visual AI models delivers faster, more relevant results.
Peakto brings together media from NAS devices, external drives and Mac folders, alongside libraries from Lightroom Classic, Capture One, Apple Photos and Adobe Premiere Pro—without moving or duplicating original files. A new control panel lets users speed up indexing and schedule updates while optimizing resource usage based on the Mac’s available memory.
2. From Search to Rough Cut: A New Era for Video
A new video player and multi-track bin editor let filmmakers assemble clips from different sources into rough cuts, establishing a story’s structure before continuing in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
Selecting a sentence in a transcript turns the corresponding footage into a subclip. Video segments surfaced by search can also become subclips, while the new player provides an at-a-glance view of all subclips created for a video. Editors can move directly from finding a shot or interview excerpt to building an initial narrative sequence.
3. Creative Collaboration. Without the Cloud.
The Peakto web client now offers most of the macOS application’s features, including advanced search, Timeline View, a new multi-track player and a full rough-cut editor. Creative teams can find footage, review media and build sequences directly from a browser.
Administrators can manage projects, team members and source synchronization from the web interface. Real-time notifications alert collaborators when shared content receives new comments, annotations or edits, helping teams stay aligned as work progresses.
Original files remain on local drives or NAS devices, allowing teams to maintain full ownership of their content while enabling remote collaboration.
4. Let AI Agents Handle Routine Media Management Tasks
New Model Context Protocol (MCP) support connects Peakto to AI agents such as Claude and Codex, allowing them to search media, add annotations and create albums on a user’s behalf.
Creators can describe a task in natural language and delegate its execution to an agent. By making its capabilities accessible to external agents, Peakto enables custom automations that reduce repetitive library management work and support creative workflows.
5. More Accurate Search and Easier Navigation
Other new features in Peakto 3.0 include:
- A new configurable search mode that groups results by category.
- More polished thumbnails and improved face clustering for face annotation.
- A refreshed interface and redesigned navigation panel that make subfolders easier to browse.
