Avalanche For Lightroom 1.1.5

All the details about the latest Avalanche update

Avalanche for Lightroom 1.1.5

Released: 3 June 2020

Changes since v1.1.4

  • [NEW] : a new icon has been added to identify catalogs synchronized in the cloud and a dedicated alert is shown before migration to prompt a verification for the local availability of all images
  • [IMPROVED] : Lightroom catalog that are synchonized with mobile or with Lightroom CC (Cloud) are now fully taken into account. In previous releases, all images that were synchronized from the cloud would be ignored
  • [FIXED] : some complex Lightroom adjustments could fail to be decoded properly.
  • [FIXED] : the GPS latitude was not properly inserted in Lightroom.
  • [FIXED] : the format of the captureDate for Lightroom XMP was fixed.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a serious problem where some images or video would be migrated but would fail to appear in the target library.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a memory consumption problem when migrating from Lightroom, that would cause the memory consumed by Avalanche to grow beyond reasonable levels.
  • [FIXED] : it is now possible to cancel a migration from Lightroom.
  • [IMPROVED] : migration performance is much better in some situations
  • [FIXED] : many UI fixes, small performance and usability bug fixes.

Improvements since 1.1.2

  • [IMPROVED] : better handling of cancelling a conversion.
  • [IMPROVED] : the estimated conversion time uses hours when necessary.
  • [FIXED] : the number of masters and versions in Lightroom was computed incorrectly as it was taking videos into account.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a potential crash due to thread exhaustion on the client machine.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a potential crash due to corrupted adjustments on disk.
  • [FIXED] : fixed some erratic behaviour on the destination path selection portion of the conversion screen.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a regression where migrated Aperture Libraries were not recognized anymore and could not be converted.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a potential failure to detect file name collisions when choosing the Flat folder structure.
  • [FIXED] : fixed a minimization issue that would render the window black when un-minimized.
  • [FIXED] : several UI problems (floating tooltips, unconnected menus) and typos reported by users.

Improvements since 1.1

  • [NEW]: added a new folder layout option : Project. This option lets you organize all your copied master images and videos into folders labelled with the source catalog projects when the source catalog supports this notion (e.g Aperture does).
  • [IMPROVED]: improved the drag and drop experience and animations
  • [IMPROVED]: the filter on catalogs in the Browse screen works as expected and lets your properly filter between projects needing a conversion and those that were already converted.
  • [IMPROVED]: small bug fixes and performance improvements.
  • [FIXED]: a potential crash when creating a new destination folder.

New features in 1.1

  • added support for drag and drop: you can now drag and drop any supported library to start the analysis,
  • added a ‘Safe Mode’ in the Preferences: activating safe mode lets you reduce file IO by avoiding to read metadata from the files themselves. It will speed up parsing of input catalogs during conversion.
  • added a new option to control whether the image and video hierachies should be separated on disk. In the previous versions, photos and videos would be separated on disk. Now you can choose to have your photos and videos being exported to the same folder hierarchy.
  • new buttons in the conversion screen let you easily access the exported library and the error log.
  • added a clearer 2-steps workflow when launching a conversion to select the destination folder
  • several UI improvements

Improvements and Fixes

  • fixed several issues with crops, especially in the case of portrait images,
  • fixed the curves adjustment,
  • fixed the export of collections in the case of projects that were published on line. This would previously cause the appearance of lots of empty albums in the hierarchy,
  • improved the ouput of complex project hiearchies: if a project is a leaf node of a hierachy it is now exported as a simple album. Previously, it was exported as a collectionSet containing an album.
  • many small bug fixes when writing Lightroom libraries
